Overview

Pakistan (Urdu: پاکِستان ), officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (اِسلامی جمہوریہ پاکِستان), is a country of nearly 243 million people, making it the fifth-largest country in the world and the second-most populous Muslim nation. Spanning 33rd in the world by area, it is the second-largest country in South Asia and shares borders with India, Afghanistan, Iran, and China. Culturally, historically and linguistically, Pakistan has much in common with India and enjoys good diplomatic relations with its neighbors. The nation's capital is Islamabad, with its largest city and financial hub, Karachi, located near Arabian sea. It is one of the most important members of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) and is their biggest military power. Rich culture and welcoming and friendly people and amazing food makes Pakistan a great place for living and tourism. People there are taught, by their religion, to love all human beings. "Eid" (عید مبارک) which means happiness is a festival that is celebrated twice a year in Pakistan. One and the first comes right after Ramadan and is called Eid Ul Fitur. This is a celebration for the fasting month and a token to make a commitment to one's self to be faithful and be kind to the poors. If you get a chance to visit Pakistan, don't forget to see the Eid fair and eat seviyan (vermicelli/سیویاں).

Economy

Pakistan has the 23rd-largest economy in the world by purchasing power parity and the 42nd-largest by nominal GDP. It was once one of the wealthiest regions of the world before British rule. Pakistan is now classified as a developing country and is one of the Next Eleven - countries with the potential to become the world's largest economies in the 21st century. 


Pakistan has a wealth of strategic resources and opportunities for development. In 2018, the country was a popular tourist destination, welcoming 6.6 million visitors. The country has 151 airports and airfields, both civilian and military, and its progress in science and technology has helped it to become more connected to the world. As of May 2020, Pakistan had around 82 million internet users, making it the 9th-largest population of internet users globally. Since 2000, the country has made strides in supercomputing, and there are many research opportunities in parallel computing. The Pakistan government spends ₨ 4.6 billion on IT projects, prioritizing e-government, human resources, and infrastructure development.
